The suit that started it all - Make it With Wool National Adult Ambassador 2004
ABOUT KATRINA
Sewing has changed my life.

I had the good fortune to be raised by a mother who sewed, and so grew up with it as just one of those things you did when you wanted something special to wear - or were snowed in during the winter!

Later in life as a fresh college graduate entering the world of corporate finance, sewing became an essential skill to provide my tall frame and limited budget with high-quality professional clothing.

Enter a career change into youth development and education, which included teaching sewing and textile arts to 4-H youth, adults, and high school students. From there I entered into corporate fashion, working in the apparel industry for Nordstrom Product Group and REI.

During my time at Nordstrom I won the Adult division of the national Make it With Wool competition, and through a series of yet more life changes found myself able to pursue a career as a professional sewing educator. That was almost 20 years ago. I have the incredible blessing of working with thousands of wonderful sewing enthusiasts worldwide every year.

As a sewing professional, I am known for my expertise in construction techniques, textiles, sergers (overlockers), machine embroidery, and Modern American Pojagi piecework. My work is regularly featured in sewing magazines including Threads, Creative Machine Embroidery, SewStylish, Stitch, SewNews, and SewItAll, and I recently published Serger 101: A Field Guide. I am a popular instructor at sewing shows and sewing guilds, and online where I teach for Sulky, Craftsy, Sew Daily TV, Taunton Workshops, Fabric Mart, Creative Spark, and STITCHES at Home. I am a national educator for Husqvarna Viking and PFAFF sewing machines, a PFAFF Brand Ambassador, and a Sulky Sewcialite. When not sharing the love of sewing, I am raising natural colored wool for my Spoiled Sheep yarn and fiber business.

I love sewing. Let's see how the love of sewing can change your life.
